The season of autumn may be one of the most favorite seasons of the people in the southern hemisphere. This is because of the cooling weather minus the chill factor that allows the people to continue live without any hassles caused by the extreme temperatures during the summer or during the winter.

Autumn also signals an important turn in the world: fashion. It’s the time to show off the coats, overalls, and even boots. This is the time to flaunt and add clothing pieces without risking to be labeled as overdressed or fashionably exaggerated.

The fashion statements in any season do not just come out as they are. Most of the time, they are guided by a higher factor in the fashion world which are called color trends. Generally speaking, color trends do not just put the color schemes in any fashion. They, at some point or extent, dictate the fashion pieces that would come out in a certain season.

The season of autumn is a very tricky season in that most people believe it is a “sad” or “lonely” season because of the gloomy season that it represents. This is also reinforced by the falling of the leaves and the feeling of a slowing down in the pacing of life. The color trends for fall should therefore divert people’s perspective of the season of autumn as a sad season. However, the color trends should also not be “trying hard” in the way that it is already portraying fall as another season such as the summer or spring.

For Autumn, the color trends are much the same as the last year’s albeit, with more statements including powerful tones, and gradient patterns. Burnt colors, rusty reds are in.

The first color of Autumn 2012 is burnt orange. Burnt orange gives a more lively, upbeat, dynamic, and even positive feel for the color of autumn. The changing color of the leaves even how bright they are could not seem to counter the effect of the motion of “falling” to exude a feeling of sadness. However, the tone and gradient of “burnt” gives a positive and exciting feel for the season of Fall.

Still on the burnt color trends, one more color to add is burnt red. Red is still very “autumn-ly” as evident in the leaves during the Fall season. Red is more positive than that of the orange because it also signals the onset of the Christmas season.

The added point for the burnt colors for this Fall season is that both burnt orange and burnt red color trends can be used for both sexes. Women and men can choose clothing pieces and even accessories in this color. The colors also match and blend with all types of skin tone. Moreover, these colors are very good to match with the black or white hue whether tops or bottoms.

They say that the streets are an endless catwalk for the fashion conscious. This becomes essentially true especially during the Autumn season. There is something in Autumn that allows for more room to be fashion forward and an eagerness to join the fashion badnwagon. Suddenly, people who do not have an amour for fashion, becomes very welcoming to the changes in the fashion scene. Even the most ordinary person becomes aware that the streets become a fashion runway.

The changes in the temperature and the visual environment can be the triggers to a changing fashion. Because the temperature suddenly becomes cooler, the people suddenly feel the need for more articles of clothing. And as they do not want to cover themselves with blankets or quilts, people desire for a more fashionably acceptable pieces of clothing.

The fashion world is able to solve these fashion problems and prevent fashion faux pas by creating themes every season. These themes are the center for the creation and selling of the different fashion elements such as the basic clothing, added articles of clothing, shoes, bags, and even accessories.

Autumn fashion themes are mostly influenced by past fashion themes that were just modified and value-added to be applicable and fit for the Fall. For Autumn 2012, the fashion world goes backward to gain inspiration from the powerful decade of 1960s, fashionably speaking.

The 1960s are mostly remembered as the English/British inspired generation of fashion. Although the revival of the 1960s fashion has been around for some time already, this Fall will witness a massive time travel back to the sixties with the latest inspirations from the said decade.

Who does not remember the mini skirts with pleats that are tunic-y and printed? How about the block, high-heeled, mary janes? This Autumn, the 1960s theme will come alive again.

The fashion components of block colos for tops and bottoms will be available again. Bright blue green and orange will be available for this Autumn. This is for both men and women. The graphic prints of usually geometrically inspired patterns like irregular shapes will also be a highlight for Autumn 2012’s fashion themes.

For a more feminine touch, the 1960s also offered pieces of clothing that are predominantly made of lace. This is for a more soft and feminine looking, yet very 1960s. This is an option to those who do not want to go all the way for the block style.

Because the main concept is still for Autumn, capes and swing coats will complement the 1960s inspired themes. The coats and capes will provide the function component in giving the protection against low temperatures.

In addition, penny loafer like shoes that are masculine looking will be the best seller as foot wear, even for ladies, to partner with their tops or bottoms.

A fashion statement cannot claim that it is a stand alone statement in itself. The whole world of fashion is all about integration and collaboration of different facets and components, to create the statement that is looked for or applicable in a certain season.

One example is the season of Autumn. This season is a very tricky season to give a fashion statement. This is because it is a mix of a depressing season, and a season to celebrate as well. Most people are forgiving of the fashion statements during Autumn, because coats and overalls are very much welcome to endure the low temperatures. People usually would say that it is encouraging to dress-up during autumn because of the cool temperature and the picturesque background of falling leaves and the emptiness of the trees.

A fashion statement is never a stand alone because it needs color trends and more importantly, a theme. A theme is the overall guide of a season when it comes to creating and following a fashion statement. For this Autumn, a guiding theme is set in place in order to direct the fashion trends and even the purchases of people. The theme becomes the marketing strategy and the directional guide altogether.

For the Autumn 2012, the 1970s theme is still a favored theme, albeit, the 1960s theme is also big on the radar. The 1970s theme is highly favored because fashionistas claim that this theme has never been out from the fashion scene. The 1970s is an era that never runs out of fashion ideas. The 1970s is still alive this Autumn.

The main clothing pieces of this era are the high-wasted pants that are widely flared at the bottom. The pants are usually belted to accentuate the waist. This piece is not only applicable to women, but for the men as well. The pants are usually coupled with blouses that are neat-bow, blouses that are billowing, or blouses with bishop sleeves. These pieces are best with a satin or silk like fabric. The glow is still the trademark of the 1970s because it is also known as the disco era.

Because it is the Autumn season, roll neck sweaters that are tucked into the skirts or pants are the best options for fashion and comfort. It can be accentuated by a vest or a lay over that are covered with beads. This can be paried with a hot pants that illuminate. This pair of clothing can be worn even at work or any day time activity.

For the evening glamour, slinky gowns that are long can be a perfect choice as long as it drapes and has long slits. Maxi dresses or mini dresses worn with big belts that give a loud statement is also very 1970s. A coat with metalic fiber can give the autumn component.

All the clothing pieces can be complemented by high boots that go with them. Handbags that are small but with a long strap are the best accessory for the 70s feel.

The first on the list is that little black dress also known fondly as the LBD. The little black dress’ origin cannot be ascertained but it has been around for quite some time already. The 1950s has it up until this 21st century. The LBD became famous for Hollywood actresses favoring this clothing piece for all occasions in all of the spectra of formality and the casual of all occasions.

The LBD is a favorite because of its versatility. It can be worn in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening. It can be worn as a normal work clothes or a party clothes. It can be used in more formal business meetings and even in occasions like a banquet. That is how versatile an LBD is.

Secondly, a woman cannot dare not to have a dark colored pair of jeans in her closet. The pair of jeans can differ in cuts ruling that season but the very core of its identity as being the jeans cannot be removed. Jeans are the best pick for daily casual activities like going to the mall, lunch out with a friend, visits to parents, going to the library, and even the best piece of clothing for the wash day at work.

In the recent years, the fashion world approved dark jeans to be an ensemble to a more professional and formal look. Because jeans can go with almost any tops, its versatility is indispensable and therefore perfect for the ever changing taste and fashion especially of any women.

The perfect romance and love affair that a woman can have is not of a partner or the man of her dreams. A woman’s love story is only perfect, simple, and uncomplicated with her love affair with fashion. Let us zoom in on the most raved about love stories of all time: the love affair with shoes.

Notice how women drool over the glass upon seeing that Jimmy Choo pumps? How about women who sit on the edge of the couch just to get a closer glimpse of Beyonce- wear a Christian Loubotin? The I-want-those-heels statements are a normal part of a woman’s conversation and even a conversation with her mind and conscience.

Check a woman’s credit card statement- yes, the oldest and even the recent ones. Next to groceries are shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes, and a payment for utilities maybe? Women are understandably investing for their future- their future with their beloved. Sorry men, it is still her shoes.

How do women walk on her and her shoes’ first date? She walks like a beauty queen on the runway called 15th avenue. She makes sure that her all black ensemble will give so much emphasis and due credit to her red stilletos. You have to look on her red stilletos!

Why do women start a fight in a subway? You insulted her date silly! You stepped on a 1200 dollar shoes! What do you expect? No, she is not mad that her foot hurts. She is mad that your muddy shoe has the guts to step on her brand new love!

Women care and treat their shoes like they are babies. Look at how they neatly arrange their shoes on their beds- err shoe rack. Look at how a woman will clean-up her shoes first before they retire to bed. And what makes her fall asleep? No, it is not a sweet good night from a man nor a story book about happy endings. It is taking solace in the fact that her shoes are all right. She can then sleep with a smile on her face, excited to see all of them in the morning.

It is still a mystery how shoes can have so much power on women to make the most strong-willed women at their mercy. Look at how a woman gives all her paycheck to the latest addition to the spring collection!

The love affair with shoes are a mixture of a legally binding and illicit affair. People may and may not approve of the love affair at some point in time with so many different reasons. To the woman, no amount of opposition can take her away from her love affair with shoes. To her, they are the best partner that she can ever have, even forever.

The Importance of Accessories in Fashion

To the fashion forward, a fashion statement can only be a statement if it is complete. Fashion is like a statement or a sentence. A sentence needs to have a subject, verb and article or prepositions. Sometimes, there are ‘add-ons” in order to make the statement more appealing such as the adjectives or the adverb.

“The cat eats,” is an example of a sentence. It has a subject which is the ‘cat’, a verb which is ‘eats’, and an article which is ‘the’. The statement is already complete but can be further enhanced. Consider this example: The fluffy cat eats hastily. The addition of an adjective- which is fluffy, and the word ‘hastily’ which is an adverb, ‘dressed up’ the sentence and made it more appealing.

A fashion statement needs to be like the second example of a sentence. The reason why there is an added ‘statement’ in the word fashion, because it is not a fashion with the basic clothing, say a pair of jeans and a matching blouse. A fashion statement needs to produce the added factor of the adverb and the adjective, such as those in the second example. The basic clothing will only become a fashion statement with the addition of accessories.

Accessories are the icing on the cake. They are the gourmet effect to food. They are the toppings in a regular ice cream. In short, accessories make the fashion more appealing and more exciting for the fashion lover. There has not been a fashion statement that became successful without its accessories in the headlines.

Consider every icon on the red carpet like the Hollywood A-listers. Angelina Jolie will always be remembered wearing the flowing black dress with an astonishing pair of emerald drop earrings. How about Natalie Portman? Sandra Bullock? Julia Roberts? Anne Hathaway? All of these stars wow on the red carpet with a very strong fashion statement which is given a stronger appeal because of their accessories.

The importance of accessories in fashion is more than what meets the eye. Accesories can also be a reflection of the personality of the one who is wearing it. Is she extravagant or parsimonious? Is she gentle or outrageous? Is she elegant or quirky?

Accessories can also at times, alter the prevailing fashion theme. If the accessory does not fit a clothing piece, guess what will be changed? No, not the accessories. Ladies, do you resound?

These are basically the reasons why ladies spend a great amount of money investing on a pair of earrings or a necklace. It is not surprising anymore that a whole paycheck of an executive will be spent on a bracelet or the latest hand bag.

It is also not surprising to note that it is not just the money who is spent on a single accessory. Most of the time, essential hours are spent looking for the perfect accessory to wear on a gala or a banquet.

That is the power accessories have in fashion and to the people wearing them.

You can never go wrong with the solid black dress shirt. It looks good with any color pants and if those pants are black you’ll be looking even taller than you actually are. That actually counts for any color if you wear it on your upper body and lower body.
